Saltwater fishing is 20 minutes away.2 of the best steelheading rivers are within 8 min of my front door..Ex steelhead guide.Ran a boat years back that , my friends and I won 5 first place finishes and 2 third places finishes in various salmon derbies.200 feet off of one of the largest lakes on Vancouver Island.I also worked in 2 different fish hatcheries..Nitinat river, we collected chum salmon broodstock, miled the males and took eggs from females and mixed and raised the fry.Henderson lake we raised sockeye and some chinook salmon..I loved to be able to put back into fishing what I have taken out..My father was a commercial fisherman, to which I spent approximately 54 months of my lifetime living on a boat..Wish there were digital cameras back then..Could of retired years ago with all the stuff I have seen on the ocean..Stuff you only see on National Georgaphin.Be starting the winter steelheading here within days.Cant wait to mumble the words "fish on" Hope not too many "fish off" lol
